Aeroplan’s dExclusives Awards

Aeroplan Distinction Members now have access to “once-in-a-lifetime” awards through a new auction website HERE.

Aeroplan says the site is a Canadian loyalty first and the auction items are handpicked with Aeroplan members interests in mind and will offer, “everything from access to professional sporting events, tickets to sold out concerts and once-in-a-lifetime trips that are curated to offer some of the highest quality products and some of the most in demand experiences from around the world.”

Some of the items up for bid when we visited the site included trip to world soccer championships in Brazil, a concert and meet-up with the Neon Trees in Toronto and a customized Epiphone guitar autographed by Nickelback (which had an impressive bid of 150,500 miles with days to go before the auction ended).

Auction categories include Escapes, In The City and Money Can’t Buy and are based on research of Aeroplan members’ interests. Along with the award auctions, Distinction members will also sometimes have the opportunity to bid on “Redeem Now” awards in limited quantities at a fixed amount of miles. New awards will be added on a regular basis.

You must be an Aeroplan Distinction member at the time of bidding to participate in an auction. Only Distinction members residing in Canada may participate in the dExclusives auction. You may only bid on rewards made available through an dExclusives auction if you have a sufficient number of miles in your Aeroplan account at time of bidding. You cannot purchase miles to augment your balance for auction activity.

Miles will be deducted automatically from your account at the end of the auction if you are the highest bidder.

INSIDE|Point: Distinction is the new tiered recognition program that rewards top Aeroplan members based on total Aeroplan miles earned across all coalition partners including airline, travel, retail and credit card partners.

A bit of a joke really. A good way to blow hard earned points on useless things compared to airline redemptions. Yeah ok, AE points ain’t what they used to be. Or you can always buy toasters on their website…
