Flying Blue members can now request an upgrade award after you have boarded a KLM-operated flight to or from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, provided you have purchased a ticket in an eligible booking class and have enough award miles in your account to redeem for the upgrade. Upgrade awards are offered subject to availability and at the discretion of the cabin crew.

Flying Blue has also made changes to upgrade awards. Now, more booking classes are eligible for upgrades, including K and H for 35,000 miles and L and Q for 45,000 miles. Rates for full-fare economy Y class are now 15,000 miles and booking classes B, M and U are 25,000 miles. With these new levels, upgrades from higher booking classes have decreased.
