US Airways offers an ongoing trial elite status challenge option that allows members to pay a fee and receive elite status for 90 days with the ability to continue their elite status benefits when they fly a set number of miles or segments. Now, members who fly the required minimum amount of miles on US Airways or US Airways Express will be able to keep their Preferred status through Feb. 28, 2015. Members who sign up for Silver status can pay $200 and receive benefits during the trial period and for roughly the next year and a half if they fly 7,500 miles or 10 segments in 90 days. Pay $400 and fly 22,500 miles or 30 segments for Gold status and pay $600 and fly 30,000 miles or 40 segments for Platinum status. The program is only open to non-Preferred members and members may only enroll in the Trial Preferred program once in any consecutive 12-month period.
