Frontier EarlyReturns Summit elite members will no longer receive complimentary access to in-flight TV effective Aug. 1, 2013. Instead, Ascent members will be offered a complimentary premium beverage and Summit members will receive an onboard snack box or snack when showing the flight attendant their boarding pass or elite membership card. The cost to watch DIRECTV is $3.99 for flights that are two hours or less, $5.99 for flights between two and 3.5 hours and $7.99 for flights over 3.5 hours.

Bottom line: Snack boxes range from $5.99 to $6.99 so Summit members may appreciate being offered a free snack instead of complimentary TV. Of course, a choice of either a snack or complimentary access to onboard entertainment would be even better.
