United Long-Haul WiFi

United Airlines is boasting that it is the first U.S.-based carrier to offer WiFi Internet access on long-haul overseas flights. United has launched satellite-based Panasonic K-band service on some aircraft serving transatlantic and transpacific routes and expects to have a complete rollout to over 300 planes by the end of this year. Customers can choose from a Standard connection, initially priced between $3.99 and $14.99 depending on the flight duration or $5.99-$19.99 for a higher speed or Accelerated option. Delta also plans to partner with Panasonic Ku-band for its aircraft, with the rollout due to start this year.
