Hyatt Category Changes

Hyatt Category Changes

Hotel loyalty programs routinely adjust hotel categories to reflect changes in demand, average nightly rate and other factors and Hyatt has announced its hotel category changes for 2013. The good news is that only 17 hotels will be changing categories and more hotels will be moving down a category. Effective Feb. 7, 2013, seven hotels will move up and require more points and 10 properties will require fewer points. At the higher end, Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in San Diego and Park Hyatt Toronto will be moving from a Category 5 to Category 4 while the Hyatt 48 Lex in New York City will move from a Category 4 to a Category 5 and Grand Hyatt Tokyo will move to a Category 6 from Category 5. If you book a hotel stay before Feb. 7, 2013 and the hotel moves down a category, you will be refunded the difference in points.
