American AAdvantage Platinum and Gold members who did not re-qualify for elite status for 2013 can renew their elite status through Feb. 28, 2014 for a one-time fee. To be eligible to renew your status, you must have flown at least two elite qualifying segments in 2012 and did not pay to renew your status last year with a similar offer. Members must pay by May 15, 2013 to renew their status and the cost varies according to your status and the amount you flew on American Airlines in 2012. Platinum members who earned at least 40,000 miles or points or 48 segments can renew their status for $619. Platinum members who earned less can renew their status for $769.
