topbonus for Sale

Air Berlin’s topbonus frequent flyer program is up for sale (and might already be sold by the time this publication hits your mailbox). “We have decided to migrate topbonus into a new entity and sell the majority of it,” said CEO Hartmut Mehdorn at a recent financial results meeting. The topbonus program has over three million members and more than 120 partners.

In other award news, members can now redeem their miles for preferred seats and a food upgrade. Economy Comfort seats can be had for 5,000 to 24,000 miles, seats in a row of two for 7,500 miles or you can get extra legroom seats for 5,000 to 17,500 miles, depending on your flight. The new a la Carte award menu is available on most intercontinental flights from Amsterdam with a choice of meals like Dutch Tradition, Japanese Delight, Bella Italia, Nature’s Favourite or Indonesian Rice dishes for 5,000 miles. Members must redeem miles for these new award options by using “Manage My Booking” at KLM.com.
