United MileagePlus has partnered with Chicago start-up, BCKSTGR, a social engagement platform that will allow MileagePlus members to earn miles for online social activity. Members can earn miles for tweeting about Bckstgr.com partner brands, checking in via Foursquare or mentioning brands in other social media platforms. Liking, following, pinning, surfing or writing about a particular brand may all qualify for mileage-earning activity. The company also offers additional once-in-a-lifetime experience and entertainment award options for members, such as backstage passes to meet a favorite artist, exclusive travel packages or a celebrity chef dinner.
Register with your United MileagePlus account at Bckstgr.com and link your BCKSTGR account with your Facebook, Twitter or Foursquare accounts. By linking your Twitter accounts, the application will be able update your profile and post tweets for you. The Facebook BCKSTGR app will receive basic information about you, including your profile information and email address and when connecting with Foursquare, BCKSTGR will be able to create new check-ins on your behalf and access your profile information, check-in history and friends list.
As an example of how earning with BCKSTGR works, registered users could earn 100 miles for posting “Check out King Cafe for lunch today!” on their Facebook wall and 50 miles for including #kingcafechicago in a tweet. Offers are available for a limited time and members must post the exact terms to be eligible to earn miles.
