BackBid Website

BackBid Website

Most websites like Expedia, Priceline and Travelocity that help travelers find the best hotel rates are not very helpful for hotel loyalty program members because booking on those sites will not result in points added to your account. But a website still in beta, called BackBid, is different.

BackBid lets you post an existing, changeable, hotel reservation made on any website–including hotel-specific sites–and will notify you if other hotels in the area want to bid for your business. Once you find the offer you like, you can then book the best deal. You will then need to cancel your original reservation yourself so be sure to take into consideration any cancellation fees before accepting another offer. The site also offers a comparison tool for three hotels including information such as star ratings, rates, when the offers expire, check-in and checkout times, hotel amenities and the number of rooms and floors. Currently, the site only offers this service for hotels in the U.S. but they are working on adding other countries in the near future. The site is mobile friendly, making it easy to check your offers and book your hotel stay through your smartphone. Check it out at backbid.com.

Bottom line: When looking for a better deal, you’ll need to provide your current hotel reservation information including check-in and checkout dates, your confirmation number and indicate where you booked the stay (hotel website, direct phone to hotel, etc.). The original hotel you booked might even come back with a better rate so this site is definitely worth a look for bargain-hunting frequent travelers and you can still earn your points.
