Starwood Preferred Guest has announced their annual hotel category changes for 2012. As usual, the majority of hotels did not change category, but there are more hotels that moved up a category than moved down. A few hotels that moved up include the W New York, The Westin New York at Times Square and W New York — Downtown that all moved from a category 5 to a category 6. The Le Meridien Bora Bora moved down from a category 7 to Category 6 hotel, along with the W Retreat Koh Samui and St. Regis Punta Mita Resort.
