Through March 15, 2012, Hyatt Gold Passport members who purchase miles for their own account will get 10 to 30 percent more points. There is normally a calendar year limit of 40,000 purchased points, but through this promotion, members can purchase up to 52,000 points in 2012.
Bottom line: At the 10 percent bonus, your cost per 1,000 points goes from the usual $24 to $21.82 per 1,000; at 20 percent, your cost per 1,000 points is $20 and at 30 percent, your cost per 1,000 points is $18.46. According to Ric Garrido of Loyalty Traveler, “This is a good opportunity to load up on Hyatt Gold Passport points if you have specific plans for using the points in 2012. I could show you loads of hotels where this is a great deal compared to the published rate…”
