Starwood Preferred Guest recently released some statistics for award stays in 2011 that gives an insight into how many points were spent and which hotels were most popular for award stays. One member spent a whopping 10,862,000 Starpoints, another spent 91 nights on award stays while another earned 19,670,583 Starpoints. The most popular award destination in North America was the St. Regis Monarch Beach in Dana Point, Calif.; in Europe, the most popular was Schloss Fuschi, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa in Austria; in Asia, W Retreat & Spa Bali, Indonesia; in South America, Sheraton Rio Hotel & Resort, Brazil; in Africa, Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove, Mahe, Seychelles and in Australia, the most popular award redemption was for Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort, Queensland.

For 100,510 points, one member splurged for a concert and meet and greet with Katy Perry. For 2012, members can look forward to spending their points in new properties including W Paris — Opera, France; The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort, Florida; The Naka Island, a Luxury Collection Resort, Phuket, Thailand and Element Miami International Airport, among others.
