Hyatt House

Hyatt House

Hyatt Hotels is introducing a new extended stay hotel brand named Hyatt House. All of Hyatt’s 38 Summerfield Suites hotels and 16 Hotel Sierra hotels that Hyatt recently acquired from LodgeWorks, L.P. will be re-branded as Hyatt House. Hyatt House properties will feature multi-purpose social spaces, apartment-style suite design and customized food and beverage choices. Hyatt House guests will receive a complimentary Eggs Your Way breakfast with made-to-order eggs and food and drinks will be available at happy hour prices seven days a week in the evening. The name Hyatt House has historical significance and refers to the first Hyatt hotel, which opened in 1957. Hyatt Summerfield Suites and Hotel Sierra hotels are expected to be renamed Hyatt House by early 2012 and remodeling and upgrades will continue at individual properties throughout the year.

Bottom line: The happy hour priced drinks in the evenings will replace the current free evening drinks that Hyatt offers in the extended stay properties. Hyatt is betting that customers will prefer to choose their drinks and pay rather than getting what the “house” has to offer–much like customers preferring to pay more for a Starbucks coffee than less for your average cup of joe.
