New Perks for SkyMiles Credit Cards

American Express and Delta Air Lines have introduced two new benefits for Delta SkyMiles credit cardholders. As of Sept. 1, Gold and Platinum Delta SkyMiles credit cardholders and up to eight of their traveling companions will receive priority Zone 2 boarding when flying on Delta. Reserve Delta SkyMiles credit cardholders will continue to have access to the Sky Priority lane and Premium Security lines.

All Delta SkyMiles credit cardholders will receive a 20 percent discount on in-flight amenities, including food, beverages, movies, television shows and video games. The discount does not apply to other in-flight purchases, such as in-flight Internet access, SkyMall and Delta DutyFree purchases. The Gold card has an annual fee of $95 (waived the first year) and comes with a free checked bag for the cardholder and up to eight companions. The Platinum card has a $150 annual fee and in addition to the free checked bag benefit, cardholders receive an annual complimentary coach class companion ticket and the ability to earn up to 25,000 Medallion Qualifying Miles (MQMs). The Delta Reserve card has an annual fee of $450 and comes with Delta Sky Club membership and cardholders can earn up to 40,000 MQMs.
