As reported in USA Today, members of Starwood Preferred Guest should look to mid-year 2011 for Westin-specific SPG Platinum amenities to be announced. Westin’s brand chief, Brian Povinelli, hinted that one possibility might involve New Balance fitness gear. There are currently 10 Westin hotels that offer New Balance sneakers and clothing for guests to borrow so they don’t have to pack those items when they travel–SPG Platinum members might get a benefit on top of what other members are offered.

Westin properties also offer three- and five-mile local area running maps and are catering to those traveling to run marathons with wellness amenities, including turn-down gifts with performance snacks for the race and good luck wake-up calls.
