Marriott Rewards announced its annual hotel award category changes, effective for all reservations made after March 8, 2011.

Around 100 hotels will go down one category and require fewer points for award redemption and approximately 350 hotels will increase one category. Most of the changes apply to hotels that are at the Category 4 level and below. Less than 10 percent of the changes have been made to hotels in Categories 5 to 8.
