Citi is testing a program that allows American AAvantage co-branded credit card holders to have two different cards that draw from the same credit line and have a consolidated monthly statement. Cardmembers who hold Citi AAdvantage Visa, MasterCard or American Express cards can, for example, have a Visa and American Express card with one billing statement. The second card will have the same mileage-earning rate and there’s no additional fee. Citi is offering a 20 percent bonus on charges on the new card for 12 months (subject to any caps).

Bottom line: This is a trial only and Citi has identified those customers to invite to get the second card. If the trial goes well, the program could be expanded.
