Expedia ended its relationship with Thank You Rewards at the end of last year and is currently in the beta phase of Expedia Rewards, launching this spring. Members will earn one point per dollar spent on flights, hotels, packages and activities booked on Expedia and can then redeem points for travel awards. Expedia also plans to offer bonus offers for more points. The award chart has not yet been released, but promises awards starting at 3,500 points for a hotel coupon. Expedia says you can expect no blackout dates or capacity restrictions for the awards. Visit Expedia.com and click the Rewards tab to learn more.
Bottom line: As a reminder, when you book flights through Expedia, you can earn miles in your favorite frequent flyer programs, but hotels booked through third-party sites like Expedia do not earn hotel points. If you ever use Expedia, it would certainly be worthwhile signing up for the program. Full details about the program have not been released as of this writing.
