In 2009, Marriott Rewards announced that elite members would be able to rollover to the next year any elite qualifying nights in excess of the minimum number of nights required to maintain their elite status. The rollover program continued into 2010 and Marriott has announced that it will extend the elite rollover nights policy into 2011. For example, a Gold member earning 60 nights in a year would be able to rollover 10 nights into the following elite qualifying year, reducing the number of nights needed from 50 to 40 nights.
