It won’t be long before American AAdvantage members will finally be able to earn and redeem miles on transatlantic British Airways flights. American Airlines president Tim Horton said, “Today, our frequent flyer programs across the Atlantic aren’t reciprocal, aren’t coordinated. Starting in October, they will be.” American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia are all members of oneworld but they were limited by antitrust laws and only recently received approval of their joint business agreement by U.S. and European regulators. While the three airlines have some technical hurdles to jump, they will begin integrating their frequent flyer programs this fall and travelers can look forward to being able to earn and burn miles without restrictions on American, British Airways and Iberia.
