Mexicana Woes and New Partners

As we go to press, Mexicana Airlines has declared bankruptcy and has suspended several long-haul international flights to destinations in Europe, North America and South America. As news was getting out about the dire straights of Mexicana, MexicanaGO sent an email to members to remind them that, “… the value of the MexicanaGO Program is the combination of the strength of close to 100 partners, among which are 18 airlines that cover most of the globe, the best hotel chains in Mexico and the world, the best boutique hotels in Mexico, the best two global rental car companies, many restaurants, the leading credit and service co-branded cards in Mexico and multiple financial institutions.” The email began by reminding members, “As stated in MexicanaGO’s terms and conditions which have been duly accepted by all our members, the company that owns, manages and operates MexicanaGO is MexicanaLoyalty (Servicios Frecuenta). MexicanaLoyalty is totally independent from CMA, even as they are both subsidiaries of Grupo Mexicana.” And finally, “The standing and balance of GO Points in a member’s account is completely independent from the situation of CMA or of any individual MexicanaGO partner.”

All of this was happening as Mexicana announced new partnerships with Hilton HHonors and VOILA Hotel Rewards. Members can also now earn one GO point for every dollar spent on sporting event tickets bought through the Premium TicketHub Web site at http://www.premiumtickethub.com
