News reports from Korea state that the Fair Trade Commission is pressing Korean Air and Asiana Airlines to double the life of the programs’ miles from five to 10 years and to also double the number of seats available for award flights, from four to eight percent. Korean Air is expected to follow through with the changes and miles accumlated afer July 2008 will expire in 10 years. Those miles earned earlier will have no expiration date.

Asiana Airlines said it expects to follow Korean Air in the policy changes.
