Midwest One-Way Awards – March, 16 2010

We like it when programs offer one-way awards, but not when they charge members more than half the price of a roundtrip flight award.Midwest Miles was one of the first programs to allow members to redeem miles for one-way awards, but the cost was more than half of a roundtrip award. Now, the program has lowered the number of miles needed to redeem for a one-way award and the new price is 50 percent of a roundtrip.

A one-way coach award on Midwest Airlines or Midwest Connect is now 12,500 miles (from 15,000 miles) and a one-way choice award (no capacity controls) is now 25,000 miles (from 30,000 miles). Midwest Miles also offers a roundtrip award when redeeming 15,000 miles and $199 (plus taxes and fees). Blackout dates for award travel in 2010 are Nov. 24, 28 and 29; Dec. 23, 26 and 27.
