Select Starwood Preferred Guest members have been chosen for a pilot program at the Aloft hotel in Lexington, Mass. that allows them to bypass the front desk and go directly to their room upon check-in. The members are being issued an enhanced SPG / Aloft-branded RFID keycard so that on the day of a booked stay, the guest will receive a text message to their mobile device with the room number at Aloft Lexington. Upon arrival, the guest can skip the front desk and go straight to their room, where the keycard will unlock the door.Furthermore, the keycard may eventually act as an “all-access pass” throughout the Aloft stay, allowing guests to use the card to purchase food and beverage and more at the hotel. No word as to if or when the program will expand to other Aloft properties.
