bmi Diamond Club Changes

Mileage upgrades, a family plan, new partnerships and confirmable upgrades are all new benefits of bmi Diamond Club. The program received mostly positive feedback from members when it announced the news last month. Mileage upgrades are available starting at 5,000 miles for a one-class upgrade from coach to business on bmi domestic flights and flights between the U.K. and Ireland, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Denmark. Upgrades to other destinations range from 10,000 to 20,000 miles. Upgrades can be requested by calling the Diamond Club call center seven days prior to departure and flights must be booked in U, L, Y, S, O or B class to be eligible for mileage upgrades.

Gold Diamond Club members will now be able to confirm their complimentary upgrades seven days in advance of departure. Gold members will continue to receive four complimentary upgrades each year they qualify for Gold status but the paper vouchers will now be replaced by an electronic version.

Diamond Club members can now pool their miles with up to eight family members. One member is designated as the “Head of Account” and all the miles earned by family account members can be pooled into the family account, which can include up to two staff members such as a nanny or security guard. Children under the age of 18 can be enrolled as long as they are included in the family account. Log in to your Diamond Club account and select “Family Membership” to set up an account.

New airline partners include Continental, Brussels Airlines and TAM and Diamond Club members can earn and redeem miles with all three. Hotel Missoni is a new hotel partner and members can earn 1,000 miles per night, up to a maximum of 3,000 miles per stay worldwide. And coming soon, Wyndham hotels is expected to come on board as another new hotel partner.
