In last month’s InsideFlyer cover story, we mentioned that in some instances, the cash portion of a Points + Cash award with goldpoints plus can be more expensive than a cash only rate. While this may have been true in the past, goldpoints plus introduced a new “floating rate” this fall that follows the hotel’s seasonality. When a member redeems a Points + Cash award, they will receive a discount off the floating rate, which means the cash required for Points + Cash will always be less than the cash only rate.
