Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) is ending its partnership with MBNA and members who reside in Canada can no longer sign up for the SPG MasterCard from MBNA. Current cardholders can continue to earn points for purchases and receive card benefits through Feb. 28, 2010. MBNA will automatically transition cardholders to a new MBNA account and send cardholders a new credit card sometime during March 2010, but the card will not be affiliated with Starwood or earn Starpoints. For those members who want to earn points at Starwood Hotels, SPG will be announcing an “exciting new credit card” soon on spg.com and we will let you know the details when the card is announced. This change only affects SPG members in Canada–U.S. residents can rest assured that their beloved Starwood AMEX will not be affected.
