The New Southwest

The New Southwest

According to an Associated Press report, Southwest Airlines’ CEO, Gary C. Kelly, says, “We’re very dependent on business travelers, so we’re not a leisure airline like some of our smaller competitors are.” He says company surveys show that at least 40 percent of Southwest’s customers are traveling on business.

Under Kelly’s rule, the airline has been going into markets it has avoided in the past, such as LaGuardia. Southwest bought defunct partner airline ATA’s LaGuardia takeoff and landing slots and will now be marketing business travelers even more aggressively.
