Amtrak is supporting a greener environment by matching all point redemptions made to carbonfund.org through Dec. 31, 2009. Carbonfund.org is a leading carbon reduction and carbon offset organization that supports renewable energy, energy efficiency and reforestation projects globally.

Every 1,000 points Guest Rewards members redeem to purchase carbon offsets, Amtrak will match 50 percent for a contribution of 1,500 points, up to a maximum of 5,000,000 points. Each 1,000-point contribution will offset the carbon created by a 5,000-mile trip or 1,983 pounds of carbon dioxide.
