Flying Blue Backlash

Flying Blue Backlash

Some members of Air France/KLM Flying Blue are hopping mad about the changes the program implemented April 1, 2009, and they are doing something about it. On FlyerTalk.com, there is a link to a petition for members to sign that reads in part, “We reflect a substantial amount of your best customers … who no longer feel the Flying Blue program provides value for its customers. The main areas of concern are the following:1) The change in redemption levels, especially in business and first.2) The change in earnings. These two combined mean that:3) We now have to fly up to six times more to get equal rewards compared to before the changes. 4) Retaining elite status has become very difficult. These factors and the constant deterioration of the Flying Blue program over the years have caused many of us to re-evaluate our loyalty.” The petition ends with, “We therefore urge you to reconsider the current strategy for the Flying Blue program. We would be more than willing to exchange ideas on improving the Flying Blue program even in the current economic climate.” So far, the petition has received almost 1,000 signatures and the response from Flying Blue has been minimal to non-existent.
