American Express Membership Rewards members can earn double points filling up their gas tanks and stocking up at the grocery store this year. American Express consumer charge cardmembers can earn twice the number of points they normally earn at stand alone gas stations and grocery stores for all purchases made between March 22, 2009 and March 15, 2010.

Cardmembers must enroll their charge cards at http://www.americanexpress.com/counttwice and use promo code 139150001 to start earning double points on gas and food spending of up to $1,000 per month. If you regularly shop at superstores, those charges will not be eligible to earn double points. Charges at departments of superstores or warehouse clubs are not eligible for this promotion.

New cardmembers who apply and are approved for the American Express Charge Card from April 1 through June 30, 2009 will automatically be enrolled in the promotion. The offer is available to cardmembers and additional cardmembers on their accounts of the following charge cards: American Express Card, American Express Rewards Green Card, American Express Preferred Rewards Green Card, American Express Gold Card, American Express Rewards Gold Card, American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Card, American Express Rewards Plus Gold Card, Platinum Card and Centurion Card.
