Aeroplan is celebrating its 25th year in 2009. Its members have accumulated approximately 821 billion miles and have redeemed miles for more than 16 million awards. There are currently more than four million members who last year redeemed 1.5 million roundtrip flights on Air Canada and Star Alliance carriers to approximately 912 destinations worldwide–an Aeroplan member or their guest takes off on an Aeroplan award flight every seven seconds. Aeroplan kicked off celebrations in February by awarding 250,000 Aeroplan miles each day for 25 days to lucky members. Members can also look forward to special gifts for longtime members and exclusive awards. Aeroplan launched in 1984 and by 1985, it had more than 100,000 members.
