Hilton HHonors has made a few adjustments to the earning policy of its credit card. Effective Jan. 1, 2009, Hilton HHonors AMEX cardmembers no longer earn bonus points for purchases at restaurants and post offices, but members will earn an additional bonus point for purchases made in other categories. Cardmembers will receive six points (instead of the previous five) per dollar spent at supermarkets, drug stores and gas stations, in addition to spending in the new categories of home telephone, cable, satellite TV and Internet service providers. Members will also earn three additional bonus points (for a total of six points) for each dollar spent at Hilton hotels worldwide, which means HHonors members choosing to earn points and points can earn a total of 21 points per dollar spent when paying with the Hilton AMEX.
