A sign of the “a la carte” times, all-coach seating Frontier Airlines recently introduced their new “AirFairs” pricing structure where travelers can choose from three fare levels, from bare bones to all-inclusive perks including bonus frequent flyer miles.
The lowest level, Economy, offers the cheapest ticket with basic amenities. There are additional fees for checked bags and itinerary changes; and travelers may select their seat assignment 24 hours or less prior to departure only via the Web. Economy travelers will receive one EarlyReturns mile for every mile flown (100 percent miles flown).
The middle level, Classic, starts as low as $20 more than Economy each way and comes with advance seat assignments (can select when you book), two free checked bags, complimentary DIRECTV onboard, and of special interest to frequent flyers, 125 percent of miles flown, which counts toward EarlyReturns elite qualification. Classic fares incur reduced fees when changing the ticket.
The top level, Classic Plus, starts as low as $45 more than an Economy fare each way, is fully refundable with no change fees and comes with advance seat assignment, two free checked bags, free DIRECTV, a complimentary premium beverage and snack onboard, access to the best seats on the plane and 150 percent of miles flown. Classic Plus also offers priority boarding and a space-available confirmed alternate flight at the airport when flying the same city pairs.
EarlyReturns Ascent elite-level members will continue to receive priority boarding, regardless of fare class flown, along with free DIRECTV, two free checked bags and advance seat assignment.
EarlyReturns Summit elite-level members will continue to receive priority boarding along with free DIRECTV, two free checked bags, advance seat assignment and unlimited free premium beverages, regardless of fare flown. Summit members remain exempt from change and ticketing service fees in any fare class.
All elite members will earn their elite mileage bonus on top of the EarlyReturns miles earned for the fare type purchased. For Ascent members, that’s an additional 25 percent bonus miles, and for Summit, that’s a 50 percent bonus. When EarlyReturns members redeem miles for award flights, they will automatically be booked as a Classic fare.
Other news, and this is good news, is that there is no longer a $25 redemption fee or a $75 expedite fee associated with award tickets. For full information about AirFairs, visit http://www.insideflyer.com/link/?1361
