AAdvantage Platinum and Gold members who didn’t earn enough elite qualifying miles, points or segments can still enjoy the benefits of elite status through February 2010–for a fee. AAdvantage Platinum members who earned a minimum of 40,000 miles or points or 48 segments can pay $549 to extend their Platinum status for another year. Members earning less than the minimum can pay $649 for another year of Platinum status. AAdvantage Gold members who earned a minimum of 20,000 miles or points or 24 segments can renew their Gold membership for $349 and for those who earned less than the minimum, a $449 fee is required to extend Gold status through the 2009 membership year. The option to purchase another year of elite is valid until April 30, 2009 and is not offered to Executive Platinum members who did not requalify.
