Dan Webb, from the “Things in the Sky” blog featured on BoardingArea.com, recently had the chance to ask questions of Southwest Airlines’ CEO, Gary Kelly. “… I asked about the upcoming enhancements to Rapid Rewards that were hinted at during the [media] call. I wanted to see if I could get any more details about it, but sadly these changes seem top secret for now–Gary said he would be ‘slapped silly’ if he revealed them.”

In other Southwest news, an interview with Gary Kelly in In Business Las Vegas reported the following remarks from Kelly when asked about Southwest’s plans for international expansion, “Mexico is very high on our list [at press time, Mexico’s Volaris was announced as a future partner] … Beyond that, we’re going to want to build out the capability to connect to Europe and Asia. It’s a little premature to say that Europe would be our next priority; I think it will be. But there’s additional technology with the unique European country taxes and languages and currency, etc. So there is some additional work that will have to be followed up on and with a little luck maybe we can get that up and running by 2010.”
