AirTran Onboard Upgrades

AirTran Onboard Upgrades

If you are eyeing those empty, cushy business class seats on AirTran as you walk to the cramped coach quarters, now you can do something about it. You can get a seat that is four inches wider with seven more extra inches of legroom and complimentary drinks, if you simply pay a flight attendant by credit card for an upgrade after you’ve boarded the plane. Yes, that’s right, AirTran is now selling upgrades to business class after passengers board the plane. The price is the same as purchasing an upgrade when you book your flight, at check-in or at the airport ($49 to $99).

AirTran introduced complimentary space available upgrades from all fare classes for elite members a few months ago and the new policy will not affect this benefit–elite members will continue to be upgraded to business class 40 minutes prior to departure.
