Redeeming miles for in-flight meals may be on the horizon. Today in the Sky blogger Ben Mutzabaugh includes a Q&A from a US Airways employee newsletter in a recent post. A US Airways employee asked, “Have we thought about letting our customers pay for in-flight meals or beverages using frequent flyer miles?” Monte Gardiner, the airline’s manager of marketing analysis, answered saying, “permitting members to pay for food and beverage with Dividend Miles could be a win-win for the airline and passengers alike. While the processing of Dividend Miles transactions onboard our aircraft is currently beyond our technology, we believe the idea has merit and may become viable as we introduce new technologies into our fleet.”
