Wyndham Worldwide has purchased extended stay hotels Hawthorn Suites and economy hotels Microtel Inns & Suites from the Global Hyatt Corp. The two brands will add 29,000 rooms to the Wyndham group with 292 Microtel properties and 91 Hawthorn Suites properties. Both Microtel and Hawthorn have properties overseas and Wyndham has plans to grow them internationally. Microtel currently has a loyalty program called MicroPass that offers a free night after nine night stays. Hawthorn Suites is currently part of the Hyatt Gold Passport program. At press time , our contact at Wyndham was not able to give us more information about how these new hotel brands will figure into Wyndham Rewards. The deal will not be finalized until around the end of July.
