United Award Fee Changes

United Award Fee Changes

United Airlines has raised award ticketing fees. The fee to change an origin or destination city, reroute an itinerary through a different connecting city or cancel an award ticket will now cost $150 — the charge used to be $100.

If you book a ticket through a customer service representative, it will now cost $25 to book over the phone and $30 to book at a United ticket counter, up from $15. It will also cost an extra $25 to make a change to the flight number or date of travel. You will have to pay $75 to make a flight or date change between seven and 20 days prior to departure and $100 if you make changes within six days of your travel date. United is also raising its close-in processing fees and time frame. Award tickets booked between seven and 20 days prior to departure will incur a $75 charge and award travel booked six days or less before your flight date will cost $100.
