SriLankan Airlines has launched their own frequent flyer program, separate from their relationship with Emirates Skywards. All current Skywards members will have the option of transferring their Skywards miles into the new program in full or in part. And until June 30, 2008, Skywards members who join FlySmiLes will automatically be placed in the same tier. The contract between SriLankan Airlines and Skywards ended on March 31, 2008, but SriLankan will continue to honor award tickets for 12 months from that date.
The new program, called FlySmiLes, offers one mile per mile flown to members in three categories: Blue, Silver and Gold. Members can redeem miles for flights to Europe, Middle East, South Asia and the Far East with other awards available such as upgrades. Miles + cash awards will be available and elite-level members will be offered excess baggage, lounge access, tier bonus miles and more. To enroll, visit http://www.insideflyer.com/link/?917
