Discussing Passenger’s Bill of Rights, Ed Perkins of SmarterTravel.com had this to say: “The airlines shower us with miles and then make it almost impossible to find award seats and upgrades at the lower-level mileages. Yes, I know that the fine print in the frequent flyer programs gives travelers virtually no rights or guarantees, and travelers accept this fine print when they enroll. Nevertheless, in their endless earn-more-miles promotions, the airlines imply, if not state, that we’ll enjoy wonderful free trips. Yes, I also know that some travelers report mostly success in finding award seats. Still, to me, the airlines are guilty of gross misrepresentations in their frequent flyer programs. Any real bill of rights should guarantee an adequate supply of those seats.”
