ATA Travel Awards members can now purchase points to top off an account. The airline has partnered with Points.com to manage their new buy, gift and transfer points program. Points can be purchased and gifted for $100 per 1,000 points (10 cents per point), plus a 7.5 percent tax and a $25 transaction fee. Roundtrip award tickets on ATA start at 6,000 miles, so buying an award ticket with points would be $600; but we suggest the best way to use this option is to buy points if you are a few miles away from the amount you need to claim an award.
