Members of United Mileage Plus recently were greeted with “Please note: We will no longer accept Star Alliance Upgrade Award requests at this time” when accessing the New Star Alliance Upgrade Awards for Mileage Plus members page on the airline’s Web site. A bit more explanation would be preferred. Our contact at United said that the program is currently on hold and that they apologize to Mileage Plus members for any inconvenience. It seems there were some technology issues that prevented some customers from easily using the service and United is actively working to resolve the issues (and the awards might be back in service by the time you read this).
