US Airways Dividend Miles members can now try out Preferred Status for a fee. To upgrade to Preferred status, regular Dividend Miles members can upgrade to Silver for $200, Gold for $400 and Platinum for $600; Silver members can upgrade to Gold for $200 and Platinum for $400; Gold members can upgrade to Platinum for $200. After purchasing Preferred status, elite members will receive all the benefits of the status level they’ve purchased for the following 90 days. And to retain status through Feb. 28, 2009, Silver members are required to fly 7,500 miles or 10 segments; Gold, 15,000 miles or 20 segments and Platinum, 22,500 miles or 30 segments. Only elite qualifying flights and bonuses earned on flights operated by US Airways, US Airways Express, America West and America West Express can be used towards the required miles to retain status.
