In an e-mail recently received by members of the Northwest WorldPerks program, the airline highlighted the positive direction for the airline’s future, now that they have successfully exited bankruptcy. Listed were the addition of new aircraft to serve short-haul and trans-Atlantic routes; newly launched flights to Duesseldorf, Brussels and Amsterdam which will no doubt lead to additional award redemption opportunities for members; new menu items in first class; wireless access to Northwest’s Web site and a new Northwest lounge at Tokyo’s Narita Airport. We’re not saying that bankruptcy is good for an airline, but we’ll take new award destinations and seats any way we can get them.
