oneworld wants the world to know that as of the end of this month, it will be the only airline alliance with a member airline in South America. Brazil’s Varig departure from the Star Alliance makes oneworld’s alliance with LAN Airlines, LAN Express and LAN Peru the only airline grouping with any representative in the Americas south of Mexico. LAN Argentina and LAN Ecuador are the newest members of oneworld. The oneworld alliance also wants you to know that it is the only alliance with a member offering a full network within Australia through its member Qantas. Eleven more airlines will be joining oneworld this year, expanding the alliance’s network by almost 100 destinations in almost 150 countries worldwide.
