Delta is now allowing SkyMiles members to mix and match award seats across the network. For example, if when redeeming miles for an award for a flight between Atlanta and Los Angeles, a coach ticket is available for the flight out, but not the return flight, a member can redeem 12,500 miles for the coach flight and 22,500 for the first class return flight for a total of 35,000 miles for the award. Previously, the award could only have been claimed at the higher first class level of 45,000 miles. Customers can mix and match SkySaver, SkyChoice, first class, Business Elite and coach award levels to save miles. Another example would be for a SkyMiles member who can book a SkySaver Business Elite seat on the outbound portion, but the more expensive SkyChoice award on the return. In this case, the member would redeem 170,000 miles for the Business Elite seat compared to 250,000 miles before this new option came into effect. The new mix and match awards will be available for all channels of award booking, including delta.com.
