Members of Continental OnePass might consider the “Go the Extra Mile” promotion: Pay a service fee to earn 50 percent flight bonus miles for all of 2007. The 50 percent bonus miles are in addition to any Elite bonuses and most promotional bonuses members will earn. You pay a service fee based on the amount of bonus miles you anticipate you could earn. For a $50 service fee, you can earn up to 5,000 bonus miles; for a $100 service fee, you can earn up to 10,000 bonus miles; and for a $150 service fee, you can earn up to 15,000 bonus miles. The offer is available through Feb. 28, for members who reside in the U.S. or Canada by calling the OnePass service center at (800) 554-5522. To qualify for the bonus miles, all flights must be flown from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.

Quick math shows that these miles are a bargain at $0.01 per mile, compared with $0.32 (plus taxes), which is the cost to purchase miles in the OnePass program. Note that the miles you earn through this promotion will not count toward getting to elite status.
